Project 720 #2

Ok, so back to work. Yesterday on Tuesday, 13 August 2013 I went to my friend's place with my cousin to observe. It was a big shock when he saw the engine in bad condition and rear suspension halfway (yes my friend is quite lazy) My cousin said that the engine oil has put too much (overfill) caused the filter to surface with some black oil. Well sorry I'm not pro on engines especially this old engine as some of the things this SD23 used was no longer used on today's cars. Added on they shouldn't install the engine before the suspension is done (my friend problem again) which means this engine needs to be overhauled again for price of RM1k - RM3k. That's what I heard.

Rusted out crank pulley, timing belt need to be replaced, fan removed by me as I look for a new one, open head etc

I had measured the Datsun 720 rear light, it is not replaceable by big trucks LED lights as they are 2x longer than 720. So Plan B, replace LED bulbs.

A screw from the rear light housing (damn I lost it somewhere again) nut is 8

More treasures to be found

Classic aircond panel. Imperial III? I don't get it...

It was a best thing when you have a CD player in those days.

Datsun 720 exhaust

Fuel tank, together with classic snail horn.

Haunted mirror (just kidding)

Horn collections

A part of a tank's wheel chain found from Tanjong Lobang Beach in Miri. Believed it was back then to WWII.

"Wegaco Wearner Made In Malaysia"

Honda CG125

Waiting for bus home after salvaging some parts.

I didn't took a photo of what I salvaged so I picked up some stuffs such as BMW horns (save money from buying a new one) 2 car number plates, left Datsun 720 signal lights (finally found it at rear cabin) and rear light lenses (screw replacement and lens cleaning)

Thats all from me. Thx for reading!

Project 720

So this is Datsun 720 Pickup. I've been restoring it with my friend. The reason my friend tore it apart because of broken frame (yes swiss cheese). So I'm gonna contribute some for my friend with LED conversions because I'm gonna make it as Dat LED Shop's demo car. Classic isn't it?

A look at the front. I took out the left light earlier.

A closer look to the projector. Gonna replace all the screws.

Parking light uses BA9S bulb.

The horn.

Restoring the bumper's lights too

Broken windshield washer tank reservoir

Le interior (sorry for bad flash my phone using special case)

OK so work done removing those lights together with the signals. It was 11pm so I went home doing restoration.

All in my room (don't ask me why my workshop is in my room)

Having problem removing S25 1156 signal bulb due to rusts so ended up prying the bulb out with test pen.

Disassemble all the lights to replace new screws.

Eeww

Restoring the signal lenses with Waxco Clear Light lens restorer & treatment. Much better than new replacement.

Left: I brought in earlier and restored it. Note the lenses, chrome housing and screws. Screws is M4 size.

Gonna clean up this mess later.

So thats for it today. Gonna find new screws from hardware shop. Later I'm gonna salvage the rear light to replace with LEDs as you saw it on China trucks such as Howo, Dongfeng etc. Thx for reading!
